The Yorkshire Terriers end the weekend top of the GFSN Division 1, after an impressive team display saw them run out 5-3 winners away to London Romans.
The Terriers controlled the early stages of the game, and got their reward 15 minutes in, a Tom Carter looping header catching the Romans keeper cold.
Yorkshire’s opener somewhat kicked their opponents into action, and the game was level again moments later as the Londoners caught the Terriers out with a quickly taken short corner routine.
However, Tom Carter restored the Terriers lead on the half hour mark, as he latched onto an excellent Matt Nellist pass before smashing home to give the Terriers a half time advantage.
The Romans came out of the traps quickly in the second half and once again pegged the Terriers back, this time an excellent header finding the back of the net.
Yet again, the Terriers rallied and Tom Carter completed his hat trick with a powerful free kick from 25 yards out, before slotting home emphatically to round off a sweeping Terriers counter attack for his fourth of the afternoon.
In search of a lifeline, Romans threw men forwards and with five minutes to go made it 4-3. But any doubt was put to bed two minutes later, as goal scorer Tom Carter turned provider, setting up Dan Nixon to guarantee the three points for the Terriers.
